WSQ Food Safety Level 1 (Refresher) Course
What will I learn?
Participants will gain industry-level skills and knowledge on how to:
- Maintain good personal hygiene,
- Identify what ingredients are safe,
- Effectively handle and store food safely, and
- Maintain cleanliness of utensils and equipment and housekeep these in appropriate storage areas.
Who should attend?
- Individuals who have previously taken the WSQ Food Safety Level 1 Course and would like to renew their certification, including:
- Existing food service sector employees who would like to upskill and/or obtain a recognised certification.
- New hires without any prior experience in the food sector (including those looking for a mid-career transition to the F&B industry)
- Anyone considering a career in Food and Beverage (F&B) establishments.
This course is compulsory for chefs, cooks, kitchen helpers, food stall assistants, and individuals who need to prepare and handle food in both retail and non-retail food establishments.
Assessment Method
At the end of the course, participants must undergo a summative assessment that includes written and practical segments. This evaluation typically takes 1.5 hours but may extend beyond the stated course hours, depending on the individual pace of each participant.
Certification
Learners who successfully complete the course (i.e. meet the required attendance and pass the assessments) will receive a Statement of Attainment (SOA) accredited by SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG). The trainer will provide information about what to do if a participant is unable to successfully complete the course.

- Time: 9:00am to 3:00pm (6 hrs, inclusive of meal break. Lunch is not provided.)
- Venue: JUMBO Headquarters Office, Training Room, 4 Kaki Bukit Ave 1, #03-08, Kaki Bukit Industrial Estate, Singapore 417939
- Course fee: S$80 (before prevailing GST). Check eligibility for available funding.

In this refresher course for individuals looking to renew their WSQ Food Safety Level 1 certification, our experienced trainers will recap hygiene protocols, safe handling of ingredients, and best practices to prevent food-borne illnesses, equipping learners with a deeper understanding of food safety and its importance. The course also covers workplace safety and health to make sure participants develop good practices that will protect the wellbeing of food handlers and the customers they serve.
The WSQ Food Safety Level 1 Refresher Course curriculum is developed by the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) and offered in English and Mandarin.
